We're dialling up the ethics at Timetastic!

I've always held a strong desire to run a business with the highest ethics, to be a decent employer, to sell a decent product that people actually value, and to do it in such a way as to be a positive contribution to society. I actually don't think that's too much to ask of any business.

As part of this effort we're making a few steps forward:

Donating more to charities

As of 1st April we are now part of the global movement 1% for the Planet. Joining has enshrined our commitment to donating 1% of our revenues to environmentally-based charities.

The first charity to benefit from our donations under the 1% scheme is Trees for Life. We joined Trees for Life as a Platinum Partner and we'll be donating monthly from now on.

Why did we choose trees?

Significant tree planting forms part of the UK’s plan to get to zero carbon by 2050. We're talking big numbers - 12 million trees a year, and we're currently way behind. We hope our donations will help us edge a little closer to those goals.

A discount scheme that reflects our own values

Over the years we've been asked about discounts, it does come up occasionally. The usual is larger businesses looking for discounts for scale; 'Economies of Scale' was the lesson I recall from University. But we always held that Timetastic should be sold fairly - we see no reason to charge a higher rate to a small shop selling cupcakes than we do to a multinational selling a wide range of widgets and consultancy services. Everyone is equal in our eyes.

So the Timetastic discount scheme we've launched is for good causes, for those making a positive impact on the environment or communities in which we live.

We are offering Timetastic for half price (against our current quoted price on the website) to organisations that fit into one of the following:

  • Registered Charities
  • The NHS in the UK
  • Certified B Corporations
  • Fair Tax Mark accredited
  • Members of 1% for the Planet

You can read about the full discount scheme on the website here:

In many respects these steps forward are a reflection of the values and beliefs of the team here at Timetastic. We don't want to have a negative impact on the environment, we want to be a positive force for good, and like I said: I don't think that's too much to ask of any business.
